My name is Guido Huaman and I am one of the local guides of Killa Expeditions, a family owned business in Cusco, Peru. We run treks such as the Inca Trail, Salkantay, and Rainbow Mountains. We also do many projects to support the local communities of the Andes.
Tourism is a big industry in Cusco, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic that is affecting the whole world, tourism in general has been paralyzed. We are now under the government’s mandate to remain in mandatory quarantine until June. People who live outside the city center or outside the city can still do activities outside the home, like walking or running alone, climbing the mountains and riding bicycles.

As a guide one stays very little at home which is very sad when you have children, because you share very little with them. But now it’s currently a great opportunity opened up to be able to enjoy them and with the family. I discovered that I love to cook for my wife and daughter, and have been inventing new meals to surprise my wife with healthy homemade food. We take this time of being at home to reconnect in love and spirit with my family. We also have taken advantage of the time at home to make a garden and have all the vegetables available.
It must be difficult right now for our international friends to make travel plans in the coming months due to the pandemic. For this reason, we are already taking bookings for 2021, so people have time to plan their Dream Trip!
If you’d like a way to visit our beautiful city from home, or have a little preview on what to expect before your big trip, we are running virtual tours, to show you around our city from the comfort of your own home! Email info@killaexpeditions.com if you’d like to know more about these!
As an adventure guide I can recommend to all our future visitors to do treks off the beaten path that are much less crowded like Ausangate, Ancascocha and Choquequirao. They are all spectacular places to visit! We hope to see you in 2021!
